Kamlager-Dove Statement on Netanyahu’s Plan to Occupy Gaza City
LOS ANGELES, CA — Today, Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove (CA-37) released the following statement on the Netanyahu government’s plan to occupy Gaza City:
“Prime Minister Netanyahu has yet again put his political survival over the safety of the hostages in Gaza, the urgent humanitarian needs of Palestinian civilians, the security of the Israeli people, and Israel’s reputation on the world stage. The Netanyahu government’s half-baked plan to occupy Gaza City—which has been bashed by the Israeli security establishment—emboldens the most extreme members of Netanyahu’s far-right cabinet and is clearly born out of Netanyahu’s desire to prolong the war to stay in power, coming just days after Netanyahu attempted to fire the attorney general overseeing his corruption case.
“The Netanyahu government is moving to expand this war at a time when it has never been more clear that it must end. The lives of the 20 living hostages hang in the balance and the hunger crisis in Gaza is growing day by day.
“In 22 months of war, not once has Netanyahu seriously thought about a day-after plan. It’s time for Donald Trump, the self-described ‘President of Peace,’ to stop getting played by Netanyahu and secure an end to this horrific war through a deal that returns the hostages, surges aid to the Palestinian people, and charts a path towards lasting peace in the region.”
