Kamlager-Dove Statement on Two Years Since October 7th
LOS ANGELES, CA — Today, Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove (CA-37) released the following statement on two years since Hamas’ October 7th terror attack on Israel:
“Today marks an incredibly painful day—two years since Hamas’ brutal terror attack on Israel. On that fateful day, Hamas massacred 1,200 innocent souls, including 46 Americans, and took 251 people hostage in the deadliest attack on the Jewish people since the Holocaust. 732 days later, Hamas continues to hold 48 hostages captive in horrifying conditions. I stand with Jewish communities here in Los Angeles and worldwide who still feel deep wounds from that day—not just from grief over the atrocities committed, but also from the subsequent surge in antisemitism that has spread across the globe.
“Two years ago, Hamas’ attack also provoked the beginning of a brutal war that has inflicted immense suffering upon the Palestinian people. The Netanyahu government’s reckless approach to the war has created a catastrophic humanitarian crisis in Gaza, with innocent civilians paying the ultimate price.
“Amidst the sorrow of this day, for the first time in a long time, there is real hope. Hope that the hostages will return home. Hope that the fighting will come to a halt and aid will be surged. Hope that the suffering in Gaza will end. Hope that the international community can come together to chart a path toward a two-state solution that delivers real, lasting peace for Israelis and Palestinians.
“There is a deal on the table that would permanently end the war, bring the hostages home, surge aid into Gaza, and create the conditions necessary to remove Hamas from power. All parties must work swiftly to get this deal across the finish line and begin the hard work of thoroughly implementing its terms.
“We must ensure that another October 7th can never happen again—and that another October 7th does not pass again without real progress toward a peaceful future for the region.”
