Kamlager-Dove Votes Yes on Bipartisan Bill to Address the Housing Crisis

May 20, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove (CA-37) released the following statement after voting “yes” on the improved 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act:

“The rent is too damn high, and it’s past time Congress acted on the housing crisis. Too many young people can no longer dream of owning a home. Over 70,000 Angelenos are unhoused. Corporate landlords are buying up our homes. And rather than addressing these challenges head-on, Trump and Republicans made life more expensive for Americans by inflating costs and slashing safety net programs.

“Democrats fought hard to ensure this bipartisan bill enacts meaningful change for renters and buyers. This comprehensive package will expand access to affordable housing, protect renters, hold corporate landlords accountable, and allow for the construction of new rental properties. I was proud to vote yes because we need all hands on deck to resolve this crisis and ensure everyone has a safe, affordable place to call home.”
