Kamlager-Dove Statement on the Passing of President Jimmy Carter

LOS ANGELES, CA – Today, Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove (CA-37) released the following statement on the passing of President Jimmy Carter:

“Today, we mourn the passing of President Jimmy Carter, a man whose legacy of service, compassion, and humility extends far beyond his time in office. As a former president and Nobel Peace Prize recipient, President Carter’s immeasurable impact on our nation and the world will never be forgotten.

“Throughout his presidency, Mr. Carter was ahead of his time on environmental issues and made human rights a central tenet of his foreign policy– laying the foundation for a better future. However, it was his work after leaving the White House– building homes with Habitat for Humanity, negotiating peace agreements, and traveling to promote global health and democracy– that truly set him apart. President Carter exemplified what a public servant should be: someone deeply committed to improving the world not just for themselves, but for future generations.

“President Jimmy Carter will be remembered as one of the greatest presidents our nation has ever had. I join the country in sending my deepest condolences to the Carter family and all those who loved and admired him. In his memory, may we continue his work to build a more equal, just, and peaceful world.”
