LA Wind Storm & Wildfire Resources
I am heartbroken by the devastating fires in LA County and my prayers are with all who are impacted.
While California's 37th Congressional District is not within the evacuation zone at this time, we understand that power outages were reported in Ladera Heights and View Park-Windsor Hills following the outbreak of the fires. The Los Angeles Fire Department reported that brush fires at Fairfax Ave/Stocker St and 54th and La Cienega were extinguished as of the night of January 7, 2025.
I am closely monitoring the situation. Please connect with me on Facebook, Twitter, Bluesky, and Instagram to stay up to date. Please see below for updates and resources.

Apply for FEMA Benefits
Thanks to President Biden's major disaster declaration, all eligible Angelenos in need can apply for direct disaster assistance from FEMA.
FEMA disaster assistance is intended to meet the basic needs of your household for uninsured or underinsured necessary expenses and serious needs in order to jumpstart your recovery. If you have insurance and are applying for FEMA disaster assistance, you must file a claim with your insurance company first. By law, FEMA cannot duplicate benefits for losses covered by insurance. If insurance does not cover all your damage, you may be eligible for federal assistance.
Individuals and families in the designated areas may be eligible to receive:
- money for essential items like food, water, baby formula, breast feeding supplies, medication and other emergency supplies;
- money to help with housing needs if they cannot return to their home because of the fires. The money can be used to stay in a hotel, with family and friends or other options while they find a more permanent housing solution; and/or
- money for rental assistance, basic home repairs for their primary home, personal property losses and other eligible expenses related to the wildfires.
To apply for FEMA assistance:
