U.S. Reps press FIFA on World Cup ticket prices, host city costs
March 12, 2026
Nearly 70 U.S. Representatives sent a letter Tuesday to FIFA calling on it to “lower World Cup ticket prices and offer financial relief to host cities struggling with the costs of staging the tournament,” according to Henry Bushnell of THE ATHLETIC. The letter, orchestrated by Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove (D-Calif.) and signed by 68 other Democrats in the House, comes after “months of ticketing controversies, and as some cities scramble for funds or cut back on events like fan festivals.”
