Kamlager-Dove to Boycott SOTU, will Speak at People’s State of the Union

February 24, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove (CA-37) released the following statement on her decision to boycott the State of the Union and attend the People’s State of the Union instead:

"I cannot sit through Donald Trump making a mockery of the sacred constitutional duty of the State of the Union while our country is facing a five-alarm fire. Our democracy is on the brink, and the man who is supposed to uphold it is seriously demented and ill.

"Instead, I’ll be attending the People’s State of the Union, which isn’t just an alternative to the BS—it’s about everything Donald Trump refuses to address: the rising cost of living, access to health care, standing up to powerful corporations, and, above all, defending our democracy and constitution.

"The American people who have taken to the streets to protest this lawless, corrupt administration will be rallying on the National Mall—and I’ll be there to listen to them, not to Trump."

Rep. Kamlager-Dove’s guest, Jena-Lisa Jones, will attend the State of the Union in her place. Jena-Lisa is a survivor of Jeffrey Epstein’s abuse who has transformed her pain and trauma into advocacy, fighting to provide justice and support for survivors everywhere.
