Kamlager-Dove Brings USTDA Director Ebong to LA, Hosts Briefing on Export Opportunities in Emerging Economies
LOS ANGELES, CA — Today, Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove (CA-37) hosted United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) Director Enoh T. Ebong in Los Angeles to link LA-based businesses to the infrastructure-related export opportunities that USTDA creates in emerging economies. Congresswoman Kamlager-Dove also hosted Director Ebong for a private tour of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to showcase the latest U.S. innovations in airport security screening.
Held at the Beehive in South Los Angeles, the briefing focused on ways that local businesses can benefit from USTDA’s mission to support the development of sustainable infrastructure in emerging economies. Director Ebong highlighted how LA-area businesses can supply their technical expertise to support USTDA’s unique programming, as well as the export opportunities that the agency creates for U.S. companies in sectors like clean energy, transportation, digital, and healthcare infrastructure. Director Ebong also highlighted some of USTDA’s recent work in Latin America and the Indo-Pacific region.
During the briefing, Congresswoman Kamlager-Dove and Director Ebong were joined by representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration, the Consulate of Colombia in Los Angeles, and dozens of local businesses.
The business briefing was preceded by an LAX tour led by representatives from Los Angeles World Airports. The tour highlighted U.S.-made equipment used in passenger and cargo screening facilities within LAX. Representatives from the office of Mayor Karen Bass joined Congresswoman Kamlager-Dove and USTDA Director Ebong on the tour.
“In Congress, I have the honor of serving on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, where I am proud to advocate on behalf of the LA-based companies that conduct business abroad and contribute to our strong local economy,” said Congresswoman Kamlager-Dove. “I am glad, through my work on the committee, that I was able to host Director Ebong in Los Angeles for an LAX tour and important briefing on how USTDA can help companies create American jobs through the export of goods and services to some of the world’s fastest-growing economies. I am thankful to all the federal, local, and business participants who joined us today– I look forward to seeing how the knowledge gained through this briefing will uplift businesses in California’s 37th District.”
USTDA Director Ebong said, “Southern California is an international gateway for global trade and innovation. As we saw today, there are many companies in the Los Angeles area that are eager to leverage their expertise and work with USTDA on developing sustainable infrastructure in emerging economies, while supporting U.S. exports to the projects that we support. Through our work, we are focused on supporting American workers and building international economic partnerships that are fair and mutually beneficial. I look forward to continuing our work with Representative Kamlager-Dove and her staff to advance our shared objectives.”
