Kamlager-Dove, Democratic Moms Issue Statement Against Republican Effort to Ban Fertility Treatments for Veterans

June 3, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove (CA-37) joined Congresswomen Lori Trahan (MA-03), Susie Lee (NV-03), Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-25), and Susan Wild (PA-07) in issuing the following statement in opposition to a Republican amendment to ban access to IVF and other fertility treatments for veterans who receive care through the VA:

“Extreme House Republicans are doubling down on their efforts to ban IVF access for veterans who courageously defended the freedoms we cherish as Americans and are now trying to start a family of their own. As women who turned to treatment to overcome our own fertility challenges, we know how devastating this would be for our veterans. Speaker Johnson should condemn this latest effort by members of the Republican Party to ban IVF, and he should follow that with an immediate vote on the bipartisan Access to Family Building Act to shield access to this family-creating treatment for every woman in our country.”
