Kamlager-Dove Statement on Being Sworn-In to the 119th Congress

January 3, 2025

WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove (CA-37) was sworn-in for a second term representing California’s 37th District. She released the following statement as the 119th Congress begins:

“It is an honor to continue serving as the 37th District’s voice in Washington. My first term in Congress– marked by Republican dysfunction– brought many challenges but also taught me the value of reaching across the aisle to deliver results. In this upcoming term, I pledge to continue putting the needs of my constituents first.

“As the newly elected Whip of the Congressional Black Caucus, I look forward to using my position to ensure that Angelenos' voices are amplified among the highest levels of leadership in Washington. With 62 members representing over 120 million Americans, the CBC will be at the forefront of protecting our most vulnerable communities over the next four years.

“The days ahead may be uncertain, but one thing is clear: I will work with anyone to bring down costs and create a better tomorrow for my constituents– and I will take on anyone who stands in our way. I am clear-eyed about the challenges we face, and I am prepared to fight like hell on behalf of the 37th District. Once again; she ready.”
