WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove (CA-37) issued the following statement today after she co-sponsored House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman McCaul (TX-10) and Ranking Member Meeks’ (NY-05) bipartisan resolution supporting Israel:

“My heart aches for the Jewish community in my District and across the country and for all the innocent lives lost as a result of the horrific terrorist attacks that took place this weekend and continue to unfold. As a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, I co-sponsored this resolution to unequivocally condemn the Hamas terrorist attacks against Israel and reaffirm the U.S. commitment to Israel’s security and its right to self-defense in accordance with international law. As Israelis shelter from rocket attacks and more information emerges about the atrocities perpetrated against innocent civilians, Israelis and other actors in the region need to see that the United States stands fully behind Israel at this critical moment. We are unwavering in our support for our ally.

"This sickening terrorism is deeply personal for me, my constituents, and the close-knit Jewish community in my District. Almost every member of Los Angeles’ Jewish community knows somebody or loves somebody who has been affected by the attacks against Israel. This violence, which has affected innocent civilians on both sides of the Gaza border, is rooted in antisemitism and has only further emboldened antisemitic actors at home and abroad. I am working to ensure Congress provides Israel the support it needs.”
