Kamlager-Dove Statement on the Inauguration of the 47th President of the United States
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congresswoman Kamlager-Dove (CA-37) released the following statement on the inauguration of the 47th President of the United States:
“Today, I attended the inauguration of Donald Trump to serve as a stark reminder of the human impact of delayed disaster relief for California. The pain of this tragedy resonates deeply with my constituents and me—just as it does with so many others across the state. No one is immune from the rippling effect this tragedy will have on our families, businesses, and local economy for years to come.
“Over the past few weeks, I’ve toured the destruction in Altadena, Pasadena, and the Palisades, where entire communities have been reduced to ash and rubble. After witnessing the devastation firsthand, I can say with complete certainty that these fires don’t check your political affiliation before stealing everything you own. Just as Congress provided disaster funding for states like Florida, North Carolina, Texas, and Hawaii without partisan strings attached, California deserves the same swift and unconditional federal support.
"Trump’s second term will define his legacy, and history will ultimately remember him by the leadership—or lack thereof—that he demonstrates in helping California respond, recover, and rebuild from these fires. I urge Donald Trump to direct Congressional Republicans to put the pitchforks down and deliver the disaster relief that California urgently needs. ‘America First’ means federal aid without conditions.”
