Kamlager-Dove Statement on the Passing of Rep. Grijalva
WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove (CA-37) released the following statement on the passing of Rep. Raúl Grijalva (AZ-07):
"I am heartbroken by the passing of Rep. Grijalva, who I was honored to work alongside and learn from on the House Natural Resources Committee. Rep. Grijalva understood the importance of amplifying new and diverse voices, and I will never forget him encouraging me to serve as Vice Ranking Member during my first term in Congress. He was an incredible mentor and an even better friend.
"As Chair and Ranking Member of the House Natural Resources Committee, Rep. Grijalva was a tireless champion for environmental justice, public lands, and Indigenous communities. Beyond his committee work, he was a true progressive and a staunch advocate for working families.
"A great leader leaves a lasting impact, and Rep. Grijalva's legacy will be felt in the Halls of Congress and in the lives of countless Americans for generations to come. I am sending my deepest condolences to his family, friends, and the people of Arizonia’s 7th Congressional District. "
