Kamlager-Dove Statement on President Joe Biden’s Decision to Withdraw from the 2024 Presidential Election
LOS ANGELES, CA – Today, Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove (CA-37) released the following statement on President Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw from the 2024 Presidential Election:
“I must start by saying thank you, President Biden, for your tremendous track record of selflessly serving the American people over five decades in public office. For leading with empathy and integrity and for working to forge a nation that lives up to its founding ideals of liberty, equality, and justice for all. America is better because of your courageous leadership.
Four years ago, our country was in a very different place: grappling with a global pandemic and on the verge of economic collapse. Today, inflation and unemployment are down. We have created over 15 million good-paying jobs, 800,000 of which are working to bring manufacturing back to the United States. To help Americans make ends meet, we have cut child poverty in half, lowered drug and health care costs, and forgiven almost $170 billion in student loan debt.
President Biden showed up for Black Americans after they were forgotten for four years by President Trump. Under President Biden, Black businesses have increased by 40%, Black wealth has risen by 60%, and Black unemployment is at the lowest rate in history. He has appointed more Black judges to the bench than any other president, including Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson. And, for the first time in history, a Black woman serves as our Vice President.
The Biden-Harris Administration will be enshrined in the history books as one of the most progressive and accomplished administrations in history. To right the wrongs of the past, they have tirelessly fought to restore reproductive freedom, rebuild public trust in our democracy, and keep our communities safe— however, there’s still work to do. Let’s finish the job.”
