WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove (CA-37) issued the following statement marking 22 years since the September 11th, 2001, terrorist attacks in New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia that claimed the lives of nearly 3,000 Americans.
“Today, we remember the nearly 3,000 American lives lost in the September 11th terrorist attacks and the families still in pain from the horrific and extreme violence of that fateful day. On this anniversary we honor the memory of the victims, pay tribute to the first responders and heroes who acted to save lives, and uplift all the loved ones whose hearts remain heavy with grief.
“As we mark 22 years since the attacks, I remain committed to working with my colleagues in Congress to prevent acts of violence on our soil and to ensure that the survivors and Ground Zero first responders are able to receive the health care they deserve for the injuries and illnesses they sustained through their acts of heroism and sacrifice. We will never forget those who are no longer with us who defended our values, democracy, and country in the face of terror. Hate, intolerance, and conflict hurts us all. If we want to create a better world, we must join together to put an end to these awful tragedies.”
