Kamlager-Dove Touts New Training Program Partnership Between American Airlines and West Los Angeles College

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove (CA-37) issued the following statement after American Airlines and West Los Angeles College announced a new partnership to train and employ aviation maintenance technicians (AMTs) last week:  

“I am proud to support the partnership between American Airlines and West Los Angeles College, which will put underserved students on track to secure good-paying jobs. At a time when AMTs are in short supply, this program will train students from West Los Angeles College for this role and give them a competitive advantage before they enter the workforce.”

“There are many pathways to financial security in America, and I am committed to supporting trade programs like this, which are affordable for working families and offer a direct career path with opportunities for advancement. Further, we must continue to uplift great minority-serving institutions like West Los Angeles College to ensure students at these schools are represented in fields they have been historically underrepresented in.”
