Kamlager-Dove Visits Black-Owned Businesses in Leimert Park in Celebration of Black History Month
Los Angeles—Last week, Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove (CA-37) released the following statement after visiting four Black-owned small businesses in Leimert Park to celebrate Black History Month:
“I had the privilege of visiting four Black-owned businesses in Los Angeles’ historic Leimert Park neighborhood. I am deeply honored to represent Leimert Park in Congress. The history, culture, and community of this area have made it a haven for Black entrepreneurs, artists, and families over the course of generations. It was a pleasure meeting with the owners and employees of All Chill, Sole Folks, Sika, and the Fernando Pullum Community Arts Center. I listened to their stories, aspirations, and challenges regarding their businesses and the area. It was inspirational to hear about the resilience Leimert Park business owners must have in order to service the greater community.
“As a proud member of the Congressional Black Caucus, I will continue to advocate for measures that connect Black and minority entrepreneurs with opportunities and resources to thrive and create wealth for future generations. We must continue to uplift our Black and minority-owned businesses that enrich our communities, and I’m proud to support these businesses today and every day. I want to especially thank the owner of All Chill, Genelle Brooks-Petty, for her leadership in the neighborhood. I will always be a partner for our small businesses in Congress."
