Kamlager-Dove Votes Against Partisan NDAA that Emboldens Trump’s Military Takeover of American Cities
WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove (CA-37)released the following statement after voting “no” on House Republicans’ partisan FY26 National Defense Authorization Act:
“Donald Trump is deploying the U.S. military against American civilians, threatening our national security with his reckless foreign policy, and wasting Department of Defense resources on performative border deployments.
"Rather than addressing these actions, House Republicans are choosing to spend their time attacking LGBTQ+ servicemembers. They even refused to consider my amendment that would have blocked funding for Donald Trump’s National Guard “quick reaction force” – a unit he wants to use to suppress civic dissent that challenges his distorted narrative.
“Yet again, Republicans have stuck to their playbook of using culture wars to distract from Donald Trump’s harmful, anti-democratic policies. I voted no because I cannot support legislation that fails to reign in an out-of-control president while attacking our LGBTQ+ servicemembers.”
