Rep. Kamlager-Dove Appointed to Serve on House Committee on Natural Resources for the 118th Congress

WASHINGTON, DC—Today, Representative Sydney Kamlager-Dove (CA-37) announced that she has been named to serve on the House Committee on Natural Resources in the 118th Congress.

“It is an honor to serve on the House Committee on Natural Resources. We must heal Mother Earth,” Rep. Kamlager-Dove said. “I’m looking forward to using my seat on the Committee to fight to protect our shared environment, and champion environmental justice legislation alongside my fellow House Democrats.”

During her time in the California State Legislature, Rep. Kamlager-Dove coauthored legislation to reduce single-use plastic packaging in landfills by 75% and fought for legislation to close the Inglewood Oil Field, removing carbon from the atmosphere and ensuring clean air and water for communities across California.

Rep. Kamlager-Dove’s district is home to a large Black and brown constituency that are often the most impacted by the negative effects of climate change. Rep. Kamlager-Dove believes that any responsible legislation addressing climate change must also address the pre-existing disparities between communities.

California’s 37th Congressional district is one of the most dense, urban districts in the country yet still has many green canopies and within these urban communities. The Baldwin Hills Conservancy is one of the largest urban conservancies in the nation. Rep. Kamlager-Dove will use her position on the House Committee on Natural Resources to protect these green spaces.

The House Committee on Natural Resources considers legislation about American energy production, mineral lands and mining, fisheries and wildlife, public lands, oceans, Native Americans, irrigation and reclamation.
