Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove (CA-37) has taken a significant step in addressing the plight of sexual abuse survivors within the prison system with the introduction of H.R. 9835, the Sexual Abuse Services in Detention Act of 2024.
During a news conference, Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove, D-Los Angeles, presented Brittany Walker, founder and CEO of Butterfly’s Haven, a check for $1,666,279. The money will support the organization’s proposed Youth Housing Project.

At today's House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing, Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove (D-CA) slammed a push to pass a contempt resolution against Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
“Arms are still flowing into the country, which means people are still being killed, and that’s a problem,” U.S. Representative Sydney Kamlager-Dove, who led the lawmakers’ letter, told Devex. “Both the RSF and the SAF are compromising the delivery of aid, and that’s a problem. Not pushing for different delivery mechanisms to circumvent their bad behavior is also a problem. So I think there are a number of areas where the United States can and should be leading.”
