New Bipartisan Caucus to Champion the U.S. Small Businesses and Entrepreneurs Driving the Growing Recommerce Economy
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congresswomen Sydney Kamlager-Dove (D, CA-37) and Nicole Malliotakis (R, NY-11) announced the launch of the Recommerce Caucus, a bipartisan coalition dedicated to championing the growing recommerce economy—the buying and selling of pre-owned, refurbished, and secondhand goods.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove (CA-37), Ranking Member of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on South and Central Asia, released the following statement on the U.S. strikes in Iran:
"The 'President of peace' just bombed Iran without Congressional authorization, without clear evidence that Iran is imminently close to having a nuclear weapon, without properly notifying both parties in Congress, and with no clear plan for what comes next.
And one of the things that has been nice for me, being back from Washington, you know, my colleague and dear friend over there, Congresswoman Sydney kamlager-Dove and the young man sitting next to her, that we're all so proud of.
Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove, (D) California: "California has the largest immigration population in this country. We are also the fourth largest economy in the world. There is a relationship between those two data points. California and Los Angeles are also the entertainment epicenter. So it is no wonder that Donald Trump brought his production to California. But it is a production of trauma. This is not about immigration reform."
ADELANTO, CA — Yesterday, Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove (CA-37) gained entry to the Adelanto ICE Processing Center to fulfill her constitutional oversight responsibilities. Alongside Representatives Judy Chu (CA-28), Linda Sánchez (CA-38), Mark Takano (CA-39), and Luz Rivas (CA-29), she demanded answers following reports of inhumane conditions, due process violations, and alarming allegations that U.S. citizens may have been wrongfully detained.
“Hoy vine para buscar a mis constituyentes. Uno de ellos es sordomudo, fue detenido por ICE y no sabemos de él”, dijo Sydney Kamlager-Dove, Congresista del Distrito 37.
Chu circled back to the facility on Tuesday along with representatives Mark Takano, Luz Rivas, Linda Sanchez and Sydney Kamlager-Dove. The representatives said they were not able to get answers on how many of the detainees had been arrested in the recent raids in LA.
On Tuesday morning, Chu toured the Adelanto facility for about an hour and a half alongside Rivas and Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove, D-Los Angeles, Rep. Linda Sánchez, D-Whittier and Rep. Mark Takano, D-Riverside. The representatives and their staff visited with detainees and inspected the kitchen, medical facilities and cells.
Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove, who took over the South LA district after then-Congresswoman Karen Bass resigned to run for Los Angeles mayor, said she visited the detention center in search of a constituent with disabilities.
