ADELANTO, CA – Today, Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove (CA-37), Rep. Judy Chu (CA-28), Rep. Linda Sánchez (CA-38), Rep. Mark Takano (CA-39), and Rep. Luz Rivas (CA-29) were granted entry to the Adelanto ICE Processing Center in order to conduct oversight guaranteed by federal law. The lawmakers demanded answers following reports of unlawful immigration raids, due process violations, and alarming allegations that U.S. citizens may have been wrongfully detained.
While Democrats have often said they take President Trump at his word, including his suggestion that arresting Newsom would be a good idea following a comment from his border czar Tom Homan, Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove, D-Calif., warned any retaliation in terms of wildfire funding by the administration would be “short-sighted.”

At a Friday press conference Bass was joined by a battery of outraged politicians, among them U.S. Reps Sydney Kamlager-Dove and Judy Chu, and state Senate President Mike McGuire. In a weekend video, District 11 Councilmember Traci Park slammed the raids, echoing the point that working people, not criminals, are being targeted. She detailed the fear that exists, even in her Westside territory.

In January of this year, Trump pardoned 23 known antiabortion extremists, who were in prison for invading and blockading clinics and violently injuring providers and clinic staff. At the same time, the DOJ ordered prosecutors to stop enforcing the FACE Act in abortion cases except under “extraordinary circumstances,” essentially opening the door for extremists to continue harassing abortion clinics with impunity.

LOS ANGELES – Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove (CA-37) and Mayor Bass were joined today by nearly 30 Congressional and state legislators to call for an end to immigration raids ahead of the President’s military march this weekend. Watch the press conference here.

Mayor Karen Bass and Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove were joined by more than 20 members of the L.A. County Congressional delegation and state lawmakers to demand an end to recent ICE raids and the deployment of troops in the city.
House Foreign Affairs Committee Ranking Member Gregory Meeks (D-N.Y.) and Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove (D-Calif.) told the administration’s official in charge of export controls that those restrictions should be based on national security, not trade agreements.
“A Senator being treated like a criminal for asking questions about Trump’s disgraceful ICE raids is an attack on every American’s freedom,” Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove, D-Los Angeles, wrote on X. “The FBI are not the president’s secret police.”
