LOS ANGELES, CA – Yesterday, Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove (CA-37) and Mayor Karen Bass hosted Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg at Exposition Park to celebrate LA Metro’s Removing Barriers and Creating Legacy Project, which recently received $139 million in Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding. They were also joined by Representatives Maxine Waters (CA-43) and Ted Lieu (CA-36).
Kamlager-Dove was a co-sponsor of the bill, and believes the new-birthed caucus is a more centralized outlet focusing on issues within the fashion industry, with better chances to gain federal-level attention.
"The push for sustainable fashion has yet to gain federal attention," Kamlager-Dove said. "Which is why it is so exciting we are launching the slow fashion caucus."
A bill proposed by Democrat Sydney Kamlager-Dove could contribute to the United States' relationship with Latin America and the Caribbean by ensuring the hosting of the Summit of the Americas.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Yesterday, Representatives Sydney Kamlager-Dove (CA-37) and Jan Schakowsky (IL-09) introduced the “Compassionate Assault Response and Empathy (CARE) Act.” This legislation would expand trauma-informed training for law enforcement personnel related to sexual assault cases.
The CARE Act has been endorsed by the Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault and the Chicago Children’s Advocacy Center.
Also present were the Democratic Congressman for the 4th District of Illinois, Jesus Garcia; Greg Stanton, Democratic Congressman for the 4th District of Arizona and Sydney Kamlager-Dove, Democratic Congresswoman for the 37th District of California.
