LOS ANGELES, CA – Yesterday, Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove (CA-37) and Mayor Karen Bass hosted Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg at Exposition Park to celebrate LA Metro’s Removing Barriers and Creating Legacy Project, which recently received $139 million in Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding. They were also joined by Representatives Maxine Waters (CA-43) and Ted Lieu (CA-36).

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Yesterday, Representatives Sydney Kamlager-Dove (CA-37) and Jan Schakowsky (IL-09) introduced the “Compassionate Assault Response and Empathy (CARE) Act.” This legislation would expand trauma-informed training for law enforcement personnel related to sexual assault cases.

The CARE Act has been endorsed by the Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault and the Chicago Children’s Advocacy Center.

WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove (CA-37) led 22 Members of Congress in sending a letter to President Joe Biden calling on him to posthumously award Reverend James Lawson, a key strategist and organizer of the civil rights movement, with the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Following this work, Reverend Lawson moved to Los Angeles and became a prominent faith leader in the community, pastoring at the Holman Methodist Church for 25 years.
